Rahul Gandhi backs Aamir Khan on intolerance issue again, says bullying is unpleasant
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said that the attack on actor Aamir Khan for voicing his opinion disturbs him as an Indian.

A day after tweeting support for Aamir Khan on the issue of intolerance, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said that the attack on the actor for voicing his opinion disturbs him as an Indian. Addressing students at Mount Carmel school in Bengaluru, the Gandhi scion termed the attack on those speaking against the government as bullying.

"Bullying is unpleasant, and will not do good to the country," said Rahul Gandhi. He added, "If someone is concerned it is always better to talk, blanket attack is not healthy. Shouting at people is easy to do, but it’s much more powerful to listen to someone. Hating someone is easy, loving someone is much more powerful to do."

Referring to the issue of intolerance, the Congress vice president called the incidents of Dadri and Dalit killings very disturbing.

The Congress leader further urged the government to have conversation on issues rather than making attempts to suppress them.

Continuing his offensive against the Centre, Rahul Gandhi said that corruption in the Narendra Modi government will be out in the open very soon.

"Forty people have been murdered in Madhya Pradesh in Vyapam scam, Lalit Modi being helped...absolutely, corruption has to be removed," he said.

According to the Congress leader, while the government is spending money on social schemes, the expenditure for the poor is being slashed.

Criticising the ambitious Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of the Narendra Modi government, he said, "I hear a talk of 'Clean our Country'. Are we serious? Do you see it working? I don't". The students, however, responded otherwise, saying the schemes were working.

Rahul Gandhi also talked about the issue of passage of Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, saying that the Congress also considered it important for the country, but it wanted some constructive changes in it, adding that the government must reach out on the issue, as the opposition has the numbers needed in Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha.

"Democracy is about conversation. BJP needs to allow us that conversation. We have strong views on land as well as GST bill," said Rahul Gandhi.
