PM Modi In Jharkhand: Congress, JMM Used Tribals As Vote Banks
Jharkhand News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that only five per cent people are standing under the pandal and rest are struggling under the sun.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accused the Congress party and its ally JMM of treating tribals as mere vote banks, stressing that his government at the Centre is committed towards the development of the people. He was addressing a crowd in Dhanbad city in Jharkhand, which has a sizeable tribal population, on Friday.

“The JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) and the Congress…will not let the talented youngsters of Jharkhand progress. That’s because dynasts only think of their own family. But whatever Modi is doing is for your future, is for the future of your children.

“Aren’t people from the same family running the JMM? They will think about their children or your children,” he asked, in a reference to Jharkhand’s politically powerful Soren family. “But you are my family and the future of your children is my guarantee,” Modi told the crowd that had gathered to hear him speak.

Modi’s visit to the eastern state comes in the run-up to this summer’s Lok Sabha elections, and days after the dramatic arrest of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren of the JMM, which subsequently selected Soren family loyalist Champai Soren to lead the state government.

The Prime Minister also stressed that the slogan of “400+” was gaining momentum because “people have faith in Modi’s guarantees”. The PM and several top leaders of the Centre’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have exuded confidence about winning over 400 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha in the upcoming elections.

Earlier on Friday, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 35,700 crore in the state. PM Modi also launched rail, power and coal projects worth over Rs 26,000 crore during his Friday visit. He dedicated to the nation a Rs 8,900-crore fertiliser plant of Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Ltd in Sindri in Dhanbad district, known for coal mining. The plant will add about 12.7 LMT (lakh metric tonne) per annum of indigenous urea production, benefiting farmers of the country.

This is the third fertiliser plant to be revived in the country, after similar facilities at Gorakhpur and Ramagundam that, too, were dedicated to the nation by the PM in December 2021 and November 2022, respectively. India’s urea production reached 310 lakh tonne now from 225 lakh tonne in 2014, a significant step towards self-dependence in fertiliser, he said.

“Jharkhand got a gift of projects worth over Rs 35,000 crore. It was Modi’s guarantee to revive the Sindri fertiliser plant and it was fulfilled today. With the dedication of this plant to the nation, India will become self-dependent in urea,” Modi added.
