Nawada: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi on Tuesday hailed Narendra Modi's anointment as the poll campaign chief of BJP and said that the decision will boost party's prospects in the Assembly polls in several states as well as in the next General Elections.
"The BJP stands to gain immensely in the ensuing Assembly polls in Rajasthan, Chhatisgarh, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh, besides the next General Elections following the Gujarat Chief Minister's elevation as the party's poll campaign committee chief," Modi told reporters at a private function in Bihar's Nawada district.
The BJP will ride on electioneering and poll management by Modi to wrest power from the Congress in three assembly poll-bound states - Rajasthan, Delhi and Maharashtra, the Bihar deputy chief minister said.
He also sought to downplay Advani's resignation from the party posts reportedly in protest against the Gujarat Chief Minister's elevation by lauding the BJP patriarch as a "national and respectable leader" and said that the latter will be persuaded to withdraw his resignation.
"The senior BJP leaders are already talking to Advaniji and will succeed in persuading him to withdraw his resignation from the party positions," Modi said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the alliance between the two NDA partners in Bihar, the JD(U) and BJP, "was unbreakable and the two parties will contest the next general elections together with great success".
Modi had earlier in the day cancelled the 'Janata Durbar at his official residence, apparently unwilling to face questions by the mediapersons on Advani's resignation.
Sushil Modi was speaking to the media at the 'shradh' ceremony of the BJP MLA Anil Singh's father in Nawada district.
