New Delhi: Remembering his historic victory in 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday thanked his party members and volunteers for their tireless efforts.
Modi also thanked his voters for bestowing him with love and respect. "I bow to my sisters and brothers of India and congratulate them (perhaps even more) on this memorable day. I once again express my gratitude to party colleagues, karyakartas and volunteers whose untiring efforts created history on 16th May 2014," he tweeted.
He highlighted the importance of good governance and people's faith in it. "The people's faith in Government has increased and the world's optimism about India and our growth is at an all-time high," Modi tweeted.
The 2014 Lok Sabha elections were historic as it was the first time that any party other than the Congress won an absolute majority on its own. The Bharatiya Janata Party registered its record win on May 16, 2014 by winning 282 seats.
The landslide victory for Modi also made it to the front pages and home pages of most of the top newspapers and magazines in the US and UK.
Credit for this major shift goes to the people of India, who on this day last year gave the most resounding mandate in thirty long years.
