3:33 pm: BJP leader Arun Jaitley who was not allowed to go to Jammu on Sunday said, "If a BJP-led state would have stopped a Congress leader, imagine the amount of hue and cry. There was no trouble in Jammu." Responding to Jammu and Kashmire Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's tweet on Gujarat riots, Jaitley said, "In Gujarat in 2002, no home minister of the state was accused."
2:57 pm: Congress leader and Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad accused the BJP of playing politics over Kishtwar violence. "The BJP should not do politics. I come from the area, even I decided not to go," Azad said.
2:40 pm: Chidambaram also said that while some arrests have been made in connection with the Kishtwar violence, more will follow.
2:36 pm: Assuring the Opposition that the Kishtwar violence report will be credible, Chidambaram said, "We will not allow a repetition of 1990. We won't allow forced migration."
2:33 pm: Speaking on BJP leader Arun Jaitley's detention, Chidambaram said, "There was Section 144 imposed, no public gathering was allowed and strict prohibitory orders were imposed. The state government felt inappropriate to allow Jaitley to visit Jammu. This does not mean we are putting censorship."
2:29 pm: Regretting the Kishtwar violence, Chidambara also said that those killed in the clashes were Indians.

2:20 pm: Making a statement on the Kishtwar violence in the Rajya Sabha, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said, "There is a challenge of infiltration and aggression, the challenge of terrorists acting in the valley."
2:18 pm: Responding to the Opposition's demands for a high-level inquiry, Congress MP Karan Singh said, "A high level inquiry can only pin point who was behind it and if there was any delay in action. Let the inquiry be credible so that we come to the exact reason."
1:52 pm: Targeting the BJP over 2002 Gujarat riots, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted, "3 unfortunate deaths - 1 Hindu, 2 Muslim and we've a judicial inquiry with my Minister resigning. Would the BJP care to recount 2002 response (sic)."
1:46 pm: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah accepted the state's MoS Home Sajjad Kichllo's resignation and hit out at the BJP. "Would Jaitley be so kind as to inform Parliament whether the Gujarat Home Minister or MOS Home resigned or even offered to in 2002 (sic)," Omar tweeted.
1:40 pm: The Samajwadi Party said steps were not being taken to check infiltration. "Adequate steps are not being taken to ensure zero infiltration from across the border. These miscreants from across the border are spreading unrest in the country. Only the central government cannot handle the situation. We cannot expect the state government to independently handle the situation. Dismissal is not the solution," said SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav.
1:28 pm: The Left too hit out at the Central as well as the Jammu and Kashmir government over delay in action during the Kishtwar clashes. "Why was there laxity in handling the situation? Central intervention is needed to bring back normalcy. We cannot let separatist elements have their way," CPM leader Sitaram Yechury said.
1:25 pm: BSP chief Mayawati rejected the judicial probe into the Kishtwar violence and demanded President's rule in the state. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Mayawati said, "I do not accept the judicial probe into the incident. A high-level inquiry should be ordered. If required, the state government should be dismissed and President rule must be imposed."
1:23 pm: In the fallout of the Kishtwar violence, Jammu and Kashmir Home Minister Sajjad Kichloo has offered to resign.
1:20 pm: Jaitley accused the government of putting an iron rod on Jammu and Kashmir. "Do we enforce censorship at such times? Do we adopt an ostrich like approach? The media doesn't publish anything. This is not merely a problem between communities. Do we have media censorship or ostrich-like attitude and not report what is happening? You are putting an iron curtain on J&K," Jaitley said.
1:13 pm: Accusing the government of inaction during the Kishtwar violence, Jaitley said, "The government functionaries remained mute spectators to the selective targeting in Kishtwar. The entire police was a mute spectator."
1:07 pm: BJP leader Arun Jaitley said anti-national elements were creating tensions in Kishtwar. "For the past few days, several anti-national activity have increased in the past few days which was otherwise a peaceful place," he said.

12:50 pm: BSP chief Mayawati has called for President's rule in Jammu and Kashmir saying the state government should be dissolved. "The state government should be held responsible for violence. There should be a time bound inquiry. It's the responsibility of the central government to investigate the incident. In the present condition, the state government should be dismissed and there should be President Rule in the state," Mayawati said.
12:34 pm: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has called for an all-party meet at 3 pm in Jammu over the Kishtwar violence issue.
12:10 pm: While the Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 2 pm, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned for 30 minutes as the uproar over Kishtwar violence continues. This even as Finance Minister P Chidambaram said in the Rajya Sabha that the government is ready to make a statement.
12:05 pm: Noisy scenes continue in both Houses as Opposition MPs create an uproar over the Kishtwar violence.
11:52 am: BJP leader Jaswant Singh has questioned the government's action to control the situation in Kishtwar. He also hit out at the Omar Abdullah government. "The Jammu and Kashmir government clearly acted late. The situation has deteriorated and uncertainty has spread. What's the central government doing? There has to be an understanding of what the situation is and where it is heading. What's this judicial inquiry into? What's the term of reference," questioned Jaswant Singh.
11:24 am: The uproar in the Rajya Sabha continues even as the Chairperson Hamid Ansari allowed Leader of the Opposition Arun Jaitley to give a statement. The House has now been adjourned till 12 noon.
11:19 am: Minister of State for Home Affairs RPN Singh said the government is in touch with the Jammu and Kashmir government over the Kishtwar violence. "We are giving all support to the Jammu and Kashmir government. We have asked the government to arrest all miscreants behind the tension so that normalcy can be brought in Jammu and adjoining areas as soon as possible," RPN Singh said.
11:06 am: The issue of Kishtwar violence rocked both Houses of Parliament on Monday. Following an uproar over the issue, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned for 15 minutes while the Lok Sabha till noon. Minister of State for Home Affairs RPN Singh is likely to make a statement in Parliament over the issue.
BJP's Kirti Azad had given a notice for the suspension of Question Hour in Lok Sabha to discuss the issue. On Sunday, Opposition leaders Arun Jaitley and Mehbooba Mufti were stopped from visiting riot hit areas. Jaitley said there was "anarchy" and "non- accountability" in Kishtwar as no arrests had been made so far in the violence. "Unfortunately, the state government does not want the truth to come out...There is complete anarchy and non- accountability.
"...It is widely perceived that a Minister of (state) government who belongs to Kishtwar town is behind this. Officers like SP and Collector posted by him for hours remained silent spectators when this violence was on...We will raise the issue tomorrow in Parliament," Jaitley said.
In a direct fallout of Friday's clashes in Kishtwar, all national highways leading to Jammu are now shut. Mobile and internet services were disconnected on Monday while schools and colleges remained shut.
The curfew, which was imposed on Sunday continues in seven districts across the state on Monday. However, the curfew in Udhampur has been relaxed.
Meanwhile, officials say that the situation is under control while patrolling is on in tense areas. "The situation is under control and patrolling will continue till the situation gets better. This is to protect people. No untoward incident was reported on Sunday night. If the situation gets under control we can think of giving relief in curfew to people," DIG Shakeel Begh said.
Violence erupted on Friday after Eid prayers in Kishtwar as two communities clashed with each other. The clashes in Kishtwar have left three people dead and 30 injured.
Clashes between two communities affected traffic on Srinagar-Jammu-Pathankot national highway on Sunday. The Amarnath and Machail yatra too were suspended for the day, forcing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to appeal for peace.
"I am using the channels of the media to appeal to the people of Jammu and Kashmir not to fall prey to rumours and allow these political parties to exploit the sentiment," Omar said.
The BJP has called for a bandh across Jammu on Monday. Separatist leader Yasin Malik has also called for a peace march in Srinagar.
