New Delhi: The Congress on Thursday demanded the resignation of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje over her helping former Indian Premiere League chief Lalit Modi secure a visa to the United Kingdom.

Taking a dig at Sushma Swaraj, Congress leader CP Joshi while addressing a press conference said that there was no such thing as 'humanitarian ground' that existed in law. Demanding Rajasthan CM's resignation Joshi requested BJP President Amit Shah to take action immediately and sack the former.

Raising further questions Joshi urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to tell the people of India about his views on the issue. "Silence of the PM is deafening," he said. Joshi talked about how Lalit Modi's statements released by his counsel corroborates his proximity with Vasundhara Raje. "We want to know if the transaction between Dushyant Singh and Lalit Modi is a black money transaction or not?".

Sources have said that BJP has asked its leaders to remain silent on charges against Raje indicating that she supported Lalit Modi's application. The BJP wants to first ascertain facts in the charges being levelled against her. Sources have also said that BJP president Amit Shah has asked Raje not to interact with the media. Documents released by Modi's lawyer claimed Raje gave a testimony supporting his immigration plea on the condition that it is not revealed to Indian authorities.
