Gaining confidence after winning 232 Lok Sabha seats, leaders of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc are set to meet on Wednesday at the residence of Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence at 6 pm. The INDIA bloc, during the meeting, is expected to discuss the election results and strategise its course of action to form the government at the Centre.
In addition to this, sources informed the leaders are likely to discuss if the alliance should reach out to Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N Chandrababu Naidu to form the government. However, it is important to note that the JD(U) and TDP have made it clear that they are a part of the NDA and will remain with it.
BJP-led NDA is set to return for a third term by winning 293 Lok Sabha seats across the country, while the INDIA bloc won a total of 232 seats. However, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday suffered a major setback as the party fell short of a majority – with 240 seats – and needs the support of its alliance partners such as the TDP and JD(U) to secure the majority mark of 272 seats required to form the government.
Who All Will Attend The INDIA Bloc Meeting?
Opposition leaders including Sharad Pawar, MK Stalin, Champai Soren, Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav and Sitaram Yechury are likely to be present at the meeting. It has been learnt that Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi will also be present at the meeting.
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray is also likely to reach Delhi. However, his loyalists Sanjay Raut and Arvind Sawant will reach Delhi for the INDIA bloc meeting. Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee is likely to skip the meeting but has sent her nephew Abhishek Banerjee to participate in the meet.
