Government on Thursday indicated it was open to calling an all-party meeting to discuss opposition demands

New Delhi: Government on Thursday indicated it was open to calling an all-party meeting to discuss opposition demands for resignation of BJP leaders including External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj that has paralysed Parliament for two weeks.

The indication was given by Home Minister Rajnath Singh at a meeting Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had convened of leaders of political parties in a bid to break the Parliamentary logjam.

Leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha and TMC leader Sudip Bandhyopadhyaya said after the meeting that the Home Minister gave such an indication after opposition leaders had complained that the government was not ready to involve in a dialogue on their demands.

Both the Houses of Parliament have not been able to function since last week with main opposition Congress and a few other parties aggressively raking up the demand for Swaraj's resignation over her alleged help to tainted former IPL chief Lalit Modi in getting travel documents to fly out of Britain.

They have also been gunning for Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje over her links with Lalit Modi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister over the Vyapam scam.
