Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray on Monday threatened not to allow officials and people’s representative to enter Mumbai if the Lok Sabha’s privileges committee summons Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray.
The committee has summoned the Shiv Sena leader for alleged "intemperate" comments against Members of Parliament.
"Delhi (the Central government) would have to first take lives of the 11 crore Marathi people," said Raj, estranged nephew of the Shiv Sena leader.
"No official or people's representative from UP and Bihar would be allowed to set foot in Mumbai," he said while commenting on media reports that the committee has decided to call the Sena leader after Diwali next month.
"I would be the first to face this notice against the Sena chief who is the great leader of Maharashtra and is also my uncle. This (notice issue) is beyond party politics.”
The committee, which is headed by senior Congress MP V Kishore Chandra Deo, in August recorded evidence of members who have raised a breach of privilege against the Shiv Sena chief.
In an editorial in Shiv Sena newspaper Samna, Bal Thackeray had criticised MPs from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar for allegedly launching an anti-Marathi tirade in Parliament.
