Patna: Putting the BJP on the mat over infighting within the party and among the NDA constituents, RJD president Lalu Prasad on Monday said the party is "on fire" and nobody has an inkling as to what will happen next.
"The BJP is on fire. Nobody has any idea of what earthquake will come or which volcano will erupt. Nobody knows what will happen next," Prasad told reporters in Patna.
Attacking the BJP for not declaring its CM candidate, Prasad alleged it was not doing so with an intention to cheat different castes by telling that the CM would be from among them, and also out of fear that the infighting within the party would come out in the open.
"Their senior most leader LK Advani said emergency may return to the country. When other leaders fell on his feet, then he said there is an one man rule in the country. You can very well understand to whom he was pointing," he said.
The RJD chief was talking to reporters after holding a day long pre-poll meeting with party workers and leaders from Darbhanga division comprising of Darbhanga, Madhubani and Samastipur districts to chalk out election strategy.
Stoking fire among BJP allies who have started showing dissent on the issue of chief ministerial candidate and number of seats to be contested by them, Prasad showed his support for Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) president and Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Upendra Kushwaha, whose party was demanding he should be the CM nominee from the NDA.
"Kushwaha has qualities to become a Chief Minister. He is mature, hardworking and wants the top job in the state. There is nothing wrong in his staking claim on the CM post," Prasad said.
The RJD supremo said Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief and Union Consumer Affairs and Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan was also making moves to claim the CM post.
"Paswan is a man of self-respect. He is also showing some moves (regarding chief ministerial candidate) It is another matter that his own people are destroying his chances. His actor son is guiding the party policies," Prasad said.
"This is the reason why we are challenging the BJP to declare its candidate. On the other hand we have declared our commander and will fight on all fronts," he said.
Prasad who has been leading the charge against BJP in Bihar after shaking hands with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, said he will not allow the saffron party to come to power in the state.
"Bihar is the land of Socialists and saints. Communalism is being fanned across the country by BJP and RSS. BJP is trying to gain a foothold in the state. We will not allow it. We will push, shove and slam it down, but not allow it to come to power. Communal forces will not be given any chance here," Prasad said.
He also accused the BJP of continuously "trying to break the unity between RJD and JD(U)" and said such ploys would not succeed, stressing that both parties along with the Congress and the NCP would contest the elections together.
Prasad said the coming Assembly elections scheduled were not a struggle to gain power or become the chief minister, but a battle to save the country and the entire country was watching Bihar with keen interest and the 'Ghar Wapasi' (packing up) of BJP would start from Patna.
"We will start the 'Ghar Wapasi of BJP from here. We will send it back to Nagpur, where it originated," he said.
Prasad also hit hard at the BJP for raising the 'Jungleraj' (rule of jungle) bogey and suggested "it (BJP) should run away if the condition was such in the state."
