BJP, Congress and CPI(M) workers join Trinamool: Mukul Roy
Mukul Roy said that around 200 to 250 CPI(M) party members and their supporters had joined the party from Hooghly's Khanakul area.

Kolkata: Several members of the rival political parties like BJP, CPI(M), and the Congress have joined the Trinamool Congress on Saturday, its General Secretary Mukul Roy said.

"Rival party workers have realised that West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is the best person to run the state and take it forward through progress," Roy told reporters at the party office.

He said that around 200 to 250 CPI(M) party members and their supporters had joined the party from Hooghly's Khanakul area. CPI(M) members and their supporters from Debra in West Midnapore had also joined the party, while five Janwadi Forward Bloc members from the same area also joined.

Congress councillors from Beldanga from Murshidabad district deserted the party and joined Trinamool, Roy said. Also 400 supporters from Howrah Zilla Congress also joined the party, he said.

Talking about BJP, he said that around 200 supporters of the party from Rajarhat-Hatiara belt also joined the party. He said that the 'acche din' slogan coined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the Lok Sabha polls had turned out to be "acche din for the BJP and not for the people".

The NDA after coming to power raised the prices of train fares, petrol, diesel, and other essential commodities which had created a burden for the common people, he said.
