Jammu: Shops, offices and educational institutions were shut and public transport off the roads on Friday in Jammu due to a bandh called by state unit of BJP to protest against the twin attacks in Jammu region, in which 10 persons including an Army officer were killed.
Divisional authorities have ordered closure of all government and private educational institutions in Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur districts for the day in view of the bandh call over Thursday's attack. The bandh call was supported by Bar Association, Jammu, Chamber of Commerce and Industries, educational institutions and transporters.
However, private cars, two wheelers and auto rickshaws were seen plying in the city and elsewhere. Police have been deployed in the city and major towns to prevent any untoward incident, police said. Ten persons, including four armymen and four police personnel, besides two civilians were killed when militants attacked Hiranagar police station and army camp at Samba on Thursday.
