“We’ll get at least 12 seats in Assam. In North-eastern states, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will get almost all seats, there may be two or three exceptions. In the 2019 general elections, too, the people of the Northeast supported us. We will do better in terms and margin of votes,” he said.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP won nine seats and got a 36.05% vote share in the state. The Congress could manage only three, with a vote share of 35.44%. The other two seats were distributed among Badruddin Ajmal’s All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and an independent candidate.
Issues like border disputes and terrorism have been largely resolved while land and air connectivity has improved a lot in the region, said Shah.
The home minister said that the massive support in Dibrugarh during his visit was a testimony to the development work of the Modi government and people’s support for PM Modi.
