New Delhi: With the Narendra Modi government set to complete a year in office on May 26, its ideological head - the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) - has decided to tone down public criticism of the government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
According to reports, the decision is being communicated to the cadres and RSS affiliated organisations. Reports also say that the Sangh has decided to back the the government's controversial Land Acquisition Bill. Lately, RSS has been very vocal in its criticism of the Modi government.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had met RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat at the Sangh headquarters in Nagpur on May 14 and discussed the national political scenario as the BJP-led government at the Centre is completing its first year in power.
According to RSS sources, the closed door meeting lasted for about two hours in which important issues like the land bill was discussed. Making his first trip to the Sangh headquarters 'Hedgewar Bhawan' after becoming Home Minister, Singh deliberated upon key issues such as the black-money tracking and the performance of Narendra Modi government from the perspective of the RSS during his discussion with the Sangh chief, the sources said.
