Ever since assuming office as the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi’s vision has extended far beyond the ordinary realms of governance to an ambitious and grand vision to create a new and developed India. Central to this is the concept of ‘Viksit Bharat’ or Developed India, a transformative vision aimed at catapulting India into the league of developed nations by 2047, the 100th anniversary of its independence.
Viksit Bharat encapsulates Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a prosperous, inclusive, and technologically advanced India. It goes beyond economic development to encompass holistic growth across various sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and industry. At its core, Viksit Bharat seeks to unleash the latent potential of India’s billion-plus population, harnessing their creativity, enterprise, and innovation to drive sustainable and equitable development.
Viksit Bharat holds profound significance for India’s socio-economic trajectory, offering a roadmap for realising its aspirations of becoming a global powerhouse. At the heart of Viksit Bharat lies the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ (Collective Efforts, Inclusive Growth), emphasising the importance of inclusive development that leaves no one behind.

Through initiatives such as Make in India, Digital India, and Startup India, the government aims to catalyse industrial growth, promote innovation, and boost manufacturing capabilities, thereby creating millions of new opportunities for employment and livelihoods.
Moreover, Viksit Bharat recognises the pivotal role of infrastructure development in unlocking India’s economic potential. The government’s focus on building world-class infrastructure, including highways, railways, airports, and smart cities, enhances connectivity and mobility and lays the foundation for sustainable urbanisation and regional development. Additionally, investments in renewable energy, clean water, and sanitation contribute to environmental sustainability and enhance the quality of life for millions of Indians.
Another critical aspect of Viksit Bharat is human capital development, which encompasses initiatives to improve education, healthcare, and skills training. By investing in quality education and healthcare infrastructure, the government aims to equip India’s youth with the knowledge, skills, and capabilities needed to thrive in the 21st-century economy. Furthermore, schemes such as Ayushman Bharat and Skill India seek to ensure universal access to healthcare and empower individuals with employable skills, thereby fostering social inclusion and economic empowerment.
