The Narendra Modi gallery will be the latest addition to the PM Sanghrahalaya (museum) that was dedicated to the nation in 2022 and showcases the work of India’s past prime ministers, including those who held office for a brief period like Gulzari Lal Nanda.
The Modi gallery, as it’s called, will be opened to the public on January 15 by the President of India and coincides with his second term in office nearing an end.
The gallery will showcase PM Modi’s journey from his early days as a party functionary to his present role. Rare and unseen pictures will be put up to capture his early days and humble life as someone who worked at a tea stall in Vadnagar, Gujarat. The interesting part of the pictures is their 7D structure which means no matter from which angle you look at the photos, they look back at you. A top source said: “This is to drive the essence that he has an eye for detail and his policies are inclusive and meant for all.”
The main theme of the gallery will be ‘Suraksha, Vikas, Sanskriti, and Paryavaran’. The USP of the PM’s policies will be showcased here such as the focus on foreign policy, vaccine and healthcare, women empowerment, facilities for poor and infrastructural marvels of India under his two terms.
The museum has been mired in controversy and faced attacks from the Opposition, specially the Congress, which objected to changing its name from the original Nehru Museum. However, the government clarified that the museum showcases all the prime ministers and the largest space is actually occupied by the life and times of Nehru. In fact, there are special pictures of Rajiv Gandhi which have been contributed by the Gandhi family.
The Modi gallery will also likely have an element of the PM’s thoughts on Ram Mandir in an interactive format.
