Former President Ram Nath Kovind will chair a high-level meeting on ‘One Nation, One Election’ today to review the progress made so far, including on the responses by political parties to the idea of holding simultaneous polls.

During its initial meeting, the committee agreed to collect input from political parties.

Recently, the panel reached out to these parties, requesting their opinions and proposing a discussion on a date acceptable to all parties. Subsequently, a follow-up reminder was sent to ensure a response.

The committee has also heard the views of the Law Commission on simultaneous polls. The law panel could be called again on the issue.
