Narendra Modi in Gorakhpur LIVE Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated three megaprojects today, including an AIIMS and a major fertiliser plant, in Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s home turf Gorakhpur. The three ambitious projects, set to give further impetus to the growth of underdeveloped eastern Uttar Pradesh, also include ICMR’s regional unit Regional Medical Research Centre here. BJP has expressed faith in Adityanath’s leadership for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh polls, with the chief minister being chosen to place political resolution at BJP’s National Executive earlier. Union Home Minister has repeatedly asserted that the BJP will form once again form the government in Uttar Pradesh with a comfortable majority.

• In a jibe at the Samajwadi Party, which is one of the contenders against the ruling BJP for the upcoming assembly elections, PM Modi warned against the ‘laal topi waale’, saying they are a red alert for the state.

• Launching the projects in Gorakhpur, PM Modi said: “Beginning of a fertiliser plant and AIIMS in Gorakhpur is sending out several messages. When there is a double engine govt, then work takes place in double speed. When work is done with honest intentions, then even calamities can’t become obstacles”.

He said when there is government that worries about the oppressed and deprived sections, then it works hard and even yields results. “The program in Gorakhpur today is a proof of the fact the nothing is impossible for new India when it becomes determined,” he said.

• Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, thanking PM Modi for the launch of the developmental projects, said ‘Modi hai toh Mumkin hai’. “This inauguration program today is like a dream come true for the people in East UP which was impossible for the opposition. 5 governments came and went in UP in the last 30 years. Only the BJP govt had the courage to start this fertilizer factory in Gorakhpur,” he said.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Gorakhpur, even as performers prepare with a plethora of colourful events for his visit. A hoard of visitors have also gathered for the launch of the projects.

• PM Narendra Modi watches an exhibition of the development projects in Gorakhpur. He will dedicate to the nation, development projects worth over Rs 9,600 crores, shortly.

• UP Chief Minister Adityanath reached Gorakhpur on Monday evening and took stock of the preparations for Prime Minister Modi’s visit here on Tuesday.

• During the inspection of the fertilizer plant, Adityanath said Prime Minister PM Modi’s regime has been historic for the growth of Uttar Pradesh and, accordingly, the inaugural program of the plant and the AIIMS should be a grand one.

• The fertiliser plant worth Rs 8,603 crore will produce 12.7 lakh metric tons of neem-coated urea per year, said officials, adding the project will not only bring prosperity to farmers’ lives but also create 20,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities for youths.

• The Gorakhpur AIIMS, built for Rs 1,011 crore, will benefit not only the people of eastern UP but also a huge population of Bihar, Jharkhand and Nepal with its world-class health facilities, they added.

• Similarly, the regional medical research centre worth Rs 36 crore will facilitate the test and research of vector-borne diseases, they said, adding the high-tech lab will decrease the dependency of the area on big cities for tests related to vector-borne diseases.

• Electric buses too will start operating in Gorakhpur from Tuesday, they said, adding that they had been waiting in the Nausad bus station premises for their inaugural run since October 28.

• Chief Minister Adityanath had flagged off electric buses in Lucknow on October 5 and 15 such buses had reached Gorakhpur on October 28.
