Delhi Wakes Up to Overnight Showers; IMD Warns of More Rainfall And Drop in Temperature
This sudden change in weather follows a Saturday morning marked by strong winds and light showers in several areas across Delhi, including Greater Kailash, India Gate, RK Puram, and Janpath.

Parts of the national capital experienced heavy rainfall in the early hours of Sunday, with areas such as Mandi House, RK Puram, Indraprastha, Kartavya Path, and Central Delhi being particularly affected by the fresh showers.

This sudden change in weather follows a Saturday morning marked by strong winds and light showers in several areas across Delhi, including Greater Kailash, India Gate, RK Puram, and Janpath.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.

The IMD reported severe weather conditions over Northwest India during the preceding day, March 2nd, 2024. A western disturbance, manifested as a cyclonic circulation over north Afghanistan and its vicinity, along with a trough extending from this circulation to the Northwest Arabian Sea, has been influencing the weather patterns. This has facilitated a high moisture influx from the Arabian Sea to northwest India, anticipated to persist until March 3rd.

Temperature-wise, isolated places in Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi recorded above-normal minimum temperatures on Saturday, as indicated by the IMD.

Looking ahead, the Met Department anticipates minimal temperature fluctuations over northwest India in the next three days, followed by a subsequent drop of 3-5 degrees Celsius.

Moreover, IMD’s forecasts suggest isolated instances of heavy to very heavy rainfall or snowfall in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh on Saturday.

The IMD has also issued warnings regarding potential hailstorm activity in isolated areas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, north Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, and East Uttar Pradesh on March 2nd.
