Schitt’s Creek, the popular sitcom that aired for about six seasons, was a hit among its loyal viewers. The unique storyline and intriguing performances by the cast members are still remembered years after it aired its last season in 2020. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting to either catch a new season or a reunion of their favourite stars. While the reboot of the original is not totally out of the question, the makers have certain parameters they want fulfilled for a reunion.
Schitt’s Creek creator and actor Dan Levy recently discussed whether a reunion of the iconic comedy sitcom is in the works. As per a report by E! News, he believes it all hinges on whether the sequel’s creativity and quality can measure up to the original. “I love the fact that people want more, but it has to beat what we’ve done, and that’s a tough thing to do. So until the idea comes to me, who knows? But if it means people go back and watch the show from the beginning, it’s not a bad thing,” he said.
Earlier this year, Dan Levy expressed that he is “Considering’ a reboot of the popular series. In conversation with The Messenger, Dan said, “It’s something that we know there’s demand and interest for it, really. It’s something that I know Dan and Eugene [Levy] are considering all the time, and I think it’s going to be a timing thing.” But he has remarked that the reboot should not tarnish the legacy of the original.
Catherine O’Hara, who also starred in the sitcom, has also earlier told Entertainment Tonight Canada, “I would love to do anything with (Dan and Eugene Levy), I know there’s been some talk, but Daniel always says it has to be the right idea and he’s right.” She opined that they do not want to “take advantage” of the viewers who want to see them on screen again and that they want to make sure that they do not let them down.
Schitt’s Creek’s final season won several Primetime Emmy Awards in 2020, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.
