Siddhant Chaturvedi Shares People's Perception Of Him After Gehraiyaan: 'They Thought I Was A Cheater, Toxic...'
Siddhant Chaturvedi recalled playing a layered and complex character in critically-acclaimed Gehraiyaan.

Siddhant Chaturvedi emerged as a breakthrough star with Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy. The actor soon became everyone’s favourite, thanks to his acting chops. He followed it up with several entertaining films like Bunty Aur Babli 2 and Phone Bhoot. Siddhant also received praises for his portrayal in Gehraiyaan. The actor revealed recently how people perceived him as a toxic and cheating person after that film.

Speaking with Hindustan Times, Siddhant Chaturvedi shared how he found it difficult to get away from the character, “That whole month of shoot, I feel, or at least my people around me tell me, that I became a different person. The way I walked, the way I sat, everything became different, which even I did not know, because it was a subconscious process. But I make sure, as soon as the film ends, the character has to come out. There are many good things to take away from your character…,” he stated.

He added, “All I do is develop empathy towards the people I play. I am more empathetic and more open towards them. But I will never try to take it up seriously, ever. A lot of people thought I was a rapper after Gully Boy, and a lot of people thought I was a cheater and a toxic person after Gehraiyaan (laughs). So, no, I don’t take away anything from my characters. I just want to be myself.”

Siddhant Chaturvedi is receiving plaudits for his performance as a stand-up comedian in the recent Netflix film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. Siddhant’s brilliant portrayal of a youngster navigating life’s nuances in a film centred on friendships, co-starring Ananya Panday and Adarsh Gourav, is gaining rave reviews. While professionally, the actor is reaching new heights, and his fans are eager to learn about his personal life as well. The actor, who is rumoured to be romantically involved with Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda, recently highlighted in an interview the reasons behind his decision to be tight-lipped about his personal life.

In a conversation with India Today, Siddhant Chaturvedi expressed that his belief in keeping his private life hidden stems from his mother’s wise words. He shared, “About relationships and dating life, I absolutely try to avoid it because that is not something for the world to see. That’s just for me, and my mom says, ‘jisko aap bohut pyaar karte ho, chupake rakhna chahiye. Nazar lag jaati hai.’ (The one you love deeply should be kept a secret. It attracts the evil eye).”

Furthermore, he stated that he is not usually photographed by paparazzi all year, and that his current visibility is primarily related to promotional activities. Being photographed with friends is a delightful experience shared by Siddhant. He mentioned, “I speak to them, talk to them, their job is so hard. You have called the same person, and then you act like oh, who called them? I find it weird. Hence, I prefer giving pictures when I can because it is anyway rare that I am spotted.”

Reportedly, Siddhant Chaturvedi is now working for an action film and is busy shooting in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
