In 2023, Shah Rukh Khan made a significant impact on the Indian entertainment scene, breaking records with his films Pathaan and Jawan, both of which redefined industry standards. Wrapping up the year with Dunki, despite positive reviews, the film fell short of the expectations set by his earlier releases. In the same year, Salman Khan’s highly anticipated Tiger 3 hit the screens. Although the YRF film performed well at the box office during Diwali, it couldn’t surpass the records set by Pathaan, Jawan, and Gadar 2. While SRK’s film crossed the Rs 1,000 crore mark, Salman’s film collected nearly Rs 450 Crore. Recently, director Sanjay Gupta shared his perspective on X, suggesting that Tiger 3’s fate might have been different if it had been released before Jawan.
The filmmaker praised Atlee Kumar’s directing skills and highlighted the dedication he has shown in every shot. He wrote, “I strongly feel that had TIGER 3 come before JAWAN things would have been different. It’s just that Atlee set a whole new benchmark with every scene he shot.”

Jawan marked Atlee Kumar’s debut as a Bollywood director, boasting a star-studded cast that included Shah Rukh Khan alongside accomplished actors Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, and Sanya Malhotra, with Deepika Padukone making a cameo appearance. Surpassing the Rs 1,000 Crore milestone, the film emerged as the top-grossing Indian movie of 2023. Meanwhile, Tiger 3, featuring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi, served as the fifth installment in the YRF Spy Universe, following the success of 2017 hit Tiger Zinda Hai. It secured its place among the highest-grossing Hindi films of 2023, sharing the limelight with other blockbusters like Pathaan, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2, Leo, Jailer, and Salaar featuring Prabhas.
After a notable year, Shah Rukh Khan is yet to officially announce his next film. However, during the promotions of Dunki in Dubai, SRK dropped hints about his upcoming project, suggesting plans to start shooting in March or April. Speculation is rife that SRK might be teaming up with Sujoy Ghosh, with rumours further suggesting the inclusion of his daughter Suhana Khan. Suhana recently made her debut in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies, adding fuel to the anticipation surrounding this potential collaboration.
Discussing the upcoming film, SRK shared that his role would align with his age despite being the main character, leaving fans eagerly waiting for the official announcements.
