Nushrratt Bharuccha's Producer Recalls Actress Lost Contact With Them in Israel: 'Her Phone Battery Died'
Nushrratt Bharuccha was stranded in Israel amid Palestine-Hamas war.

Nushrratt Bharuccha was visibly shaken and emotional when she landed in Mumbai from Israel. The Dream Girl actress was stranded in the war-torn country after Hamas, a Palestinian Islamist militant group, attacked Israel on Saturday. The actress was unable to contact her team after Saturday afternoon but reconnected with them on Sunday morning and informed them about her return. Although safe, Nushrratt appeared badly affected by the events unfolded in the warn-torn country. In the light of that, the producer of her film Akelli, which was being screened at the Haifa International Film Festival, recalled how the Indian embassy ensured the safe return of Nushrratt.

Ninad Vaidya narrated the harrowing ordeal to India Today. He shared, “On the 6th, the government had organised an entire tour of different places and on the 7th they were supposed to be back in the evening. That evening, a 10 p.m. flight was scheduled for India. However, on the 7th morning, I suddenly got a call from Nushrratt asking me ‘You know what has happened’, I wasn’t aware. Then she told me that there had been an attack on Israel.”

He further recalled, “Then immediately Mr. Vinod Pawar from the Indian Embassy came online for our help. Vicky Sidana (Producer) was to leave the airport at 3 pm and suddenly a taxi driver from nowhere just turned up. They were surprised because no one was allowed to step out. It was like a 26/11 event, it felt like that. The airport was in a chaos. Then the idea was whichever flight we got, the plan was to get into that and get out of Israel, that was the first priority.”

However, at the airport, Nushrratt Bharuccha phone battery died, “Post reaching the airport in that entire chaos Nushratt’s battery died. So there was no way to connect with her. The Air India flight which was scheduled to leave at 10 pm never reached the country. So, she was standard there for more than 8 hours. But finally, after hours of waiting she managed to get into a via flight. So she went first to Abu Dhabi and then to India. They figured out the flights themselves because we were not able to get in touch with them. Once they were out of the country we got the communication that they were okay, this was the next day,” shared Ninad.

Nushrratt was in Israel to attend the Haifa International Film Festival. Her film Akelli was showcased at the film festival. In the video from the festival, Nushrratt was seen singing with Iraeli star Tsahi Halevi. In the video shared on X (previously known as Twitter), Nushrratt was seen singing Amitabh Bachchan’s song Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan from the film Yaarana (1981). She was joined by Tsahi Halevi. The duo sang the song together while the audience cheered for them. In another post, Nushrratt Bharuccha and Tsahi Halevi were seen posing together.
