Netflix is coming up with a new South Korean action-thriller drama titled Trigger. And the OTT giant has recently announced two big names who will be joining the upcoming web series. Talented South Korean actors — Kim Nam Gil and Kim Young Kwang have been roped in as the lead cast of the show. Confirming Trigger’s production, Netflix on October 25 dropped the posters of the two stars on Instagram. The announcement has sent K-drama lovers into a frenzy as they eagerly wait for the release of Trigger. Directed by Kwon Oh Seung, the much-anticipated series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix in 2025.
According to a report by Soopmi, Trigger revolves around two men who embark on a mission to “solve the mess” created by the easy availability of firearms in South Korea — a country deemed to be a gun-free nation. These guns are being manufactured through an unknown source. Among the two men, one believes that guns are an important weapon for weak people who wish to defend themselves. The other, however, differs in his opinion and insists that violence can never be an option.

Kim Nam Gil will be slipping into the shoes of a former military sniper and Olympic gold medalist — Lee Do. He now works as a police officer, driven by justice. Lee Do will be the one, who according to Soompi, will be responsible for looking out for the source of the illegally produced firearms amidst ongoing reports and incidents of shooting in South Korea. Kim Young Kwang, on the other hand, will be breathing life into the character of Moon Baek. Baek is the leading mafia of the underworld that deals with the production and distribution of firearms. He would be sporting a dual personality — Baek’s overt easygoing persona, veiling his covert sly persona who is willing to carry out a malicious and meticulous plan.
Kim Nam Gil and Kim Young Kwang have displayed their acting prowess in several projects like Song of the Bandits, Through the Darkness, The Secret Life of My Secretary, and Call It Love among others. Known for their impeccable performances and on-screen charisma, K-drama lovers are already excited to watch the actor-duo join forces for the first time on the small screen. Reports claim that Trigger will go on the floors sometime this November. Further details about the show, including other cast members are still under tight wraps.
