When Katrina Kaif first started acting in Hindi films, she faced a lot of criticism for not knowing the language. It was said that another artist dubbed for her and she was not considered for projects as she didn’t speak Hindi well. However, the actress worked hard on herself and is now one of the top actresses in the country. In a recent interview, she revealed that Jackie Shroff suggested she learn Devnagri and denied claims of another artist dubbing in her films.
Speaking to Mid-day, Katrina said, “I think it was Jackie Shroff who first told me to learn Devnagri and that was very important for me because in my first few films, at that time, the directors would write the lines on the set and give it to you. A lot of them would write in Devnagri and I never wanted to be in the position where I was like ‘What do I do?’ So, the first thing I did was to learn to read in Devnagri and that was the base which saved me.”
When asked if another artist dubbed for her early in her career, Katrina said, “No.” “No, no! It’s just hard work. It was hard work,” she added. She also mentioned that her co-stars helped her to learn Hindi and she worked hard on herself to get better. She said, ” Having amazing people to work with and just putting your head down and doing what is necessary and loving what you do. If you love what you do then you will put in the work. (I did) whatever it was, whether it was learning the language, whether it was dance that I needed to (work on).”
Meanwhile, Katrina Kaif was last seen in Tiger 3 alongside Salman Khan and in Merry Christmas alongside Vijay Sethupathi. She will also be seen in Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zara. Deepika Padukone recently reunited with Sidharth Anand for Fighter, also starring Hrithik Roshan. As for Ranbir, he was last seen in Animal and has recently signed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War.
