Kareena Kapoor Khan opens up on how sister Karisma battled all odds to enter the world of showbiz.

Kareena Kapoor Khan has come a long way in showbiz. Having a family lineage from the world of cinema, and the granddaughter of legendary actor Raj Kapoor, the actress recently opened up about the time where women in the Kapoor khandan/family were not allowed to work in films. It was Kareena’s elder sister Karisma who was the first woman from the family to enter the world of showbiz and also created a name for herself.

Speaking about the same at at event hosted by Indian Express, Kareena shared it was her father Randhir Kapoor who broke the norm and was supportive of their acting career. Calling her dad the ‘coolest’, the Heroine actress shared, “I think my father has been one of the coolest fathers ever.”

Opening up about the time, when Kapoor women were not allowed to work, she shared, “times were different”. “Back in the 1970s and stuff, it was different because times were different. That when they got married they never really worked, but I’m glad that my father moved with the times because that’s what it is about. You have to keep changing yourself for your children. That’s also important, and not live in archaic times.”

He’s extremely cosmopolitan, extremely open-minded, he’s always just been so nice about everything.”

Bebo also added that her father was way ahead of her times and called him a “friend and guide.”

Meanwhile on the work front, Kareena Kapoor is gearing up to make her OTT debut with Jaane Jaan which is directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The movie will be streaming on Netflix from September 21.
