Karishma Tanna won the Best Lead Actress award at the 2023 Busan Film Festival for her role in Scoop. She was the sole Indian actress nominated in two categories, and Scoop also clinched the Best Series award at the festival. The Busan Film Festival, one of Asia’s most celebrated cinematic events, recognised Karishma Tanna for her portrayal of Jagruti Pathak, a determined journalist on a quest for justice in a politically tumultuous nation.
Speaking to Times Now, the filmmaker said, “I’m overwhelmed. We made our series with a lot of love and conviction. This is a triumph for the entire team and a big win for the underdog! We are honoured. I am thankful to Netflix, my co-creator Mrunmayee Lagoo and my producers Matchbox Shots for their unwavering belief.” Giving due credit to former crime reporter Jigna Vora, on whom the story of Scoop is based, he added, ” I am indebted to Jigna Vora for baring her heart to us and giving us some of her indomitable spirit. I am happy that this cautionary tale of our times is getting this recognition. There could be no more crucial time to tell this urgent story of moral, ethical, personal and journalistic hubris.”
Karishma Tanna took to Instagram to write, “And we Bring it Home . I am absolutely thrilled to share with you all that our #series #Scoop #scooponnetflix has won 2 awards for Best Asian Series and Best Lead Actress on @netflix_in at the @busanfilmfest. To be nominated here was a huge honour and to win in both the categories is just overwhelming. So much gratitude in our hearts.

On the red carpet of the film festival, Karishma Tanna exuded elegance in a black sari.
