Gulshan Devaiah, Drashti Dhami and Amit Sadh starrer Duranga Season 2 is currently streaming on ZEE5 but is it worth watching? Read our review here.

Duranga Season 2 Review (Episodes 1-4): After the massive success of season one, Duranga is back with its second season. The psychological thriller stars Gulshan Devaiah, Drashti Dhami and Amit Sadh in the lead. It revolves around Abhishek Banne – an accomplice of a serial killer who is also most wanted by cops.

To begin with, if you haven’t watched the first season of Duranga, it’s completely fine. You can still watch season two. Yes, you may take a little time to understand some of the references in the initial episode but the makers have made sure that the new season is a comfortable watch even to those who have not watched the part one.

The backbone of the show is its writing. It is incredible. Even though there aren’t a lot of twists and turns in the initial four episodes, the plot is gripping. It is not a regular psychological thriller and offers something new to the audience. The connection between Gulshan Devaiah and Amit Sadh’s characters is also very interesting. Duranga 2 keeps you hooked to your seats throughout and makes you wonder what will happen next.

What disappoints in the show is Drashti Dhami’s performance. She plays the role of Ira Patel – a police inspector. In season two, her character dives deeper into the serial murder cases and learns dark truths about her husband. However, Drishti looks dull in the show. She offers nothing new to her fans.

On the other hand, Gulshan Devaiah and Amit Sadh are brilliant. They impress by retaining the mysterious nature of their characters. While there is a calm in Devaiah’s performance, Sadh makes you feel curious with his character.

Special mention to Amit Sadh’s first scene in the show when he was crawling on the floor. The actor performed it in the finest way possible.

It is also commendable how makers have made a social commentary on the unfortunate reality of our society with Gulshan Devaiah’s character. In the show, he does not have a full-time job. While his wife (Drishti) is a top cop, he stays back at home and has been described as somebody who cooks very well. However, because of the same, he is often called a ‘loser’. His daughter is also bullied in her school because her father is a homemaker.

Overall, Duranga 2 is a good watch if you love mysteries and thrillers. It is tightly edited and wastes no time.
