Actress Yami Gautam in a recent interview revealed that her active lifestyle wouldn’t have been possible had she not followed a strict yoga routine to keep her from relapsing into an old injury.

Actress Yami Gautam has been keeping busy with the shooting of her upcoming movies. In a recent interview, the actress revealed that this active lifestyle wouldn’t have been possible had she not followed a strict yoga routine to keep her from relapsing into an old injury.

Speaking to Bombay Times, Yami revealed that years before she had joined the acting profession, she had been a victim of a hit and run accident in Chandigarh. The 32-year-old actress told Bombay Times that at the time, she used to go to college in Chandigarh and was on her two-wheeler when the mishap took place. She told the entertainment daily that the accident happened one morning when she was heading to her university in Chandigarh.

Yami was on the highway riding her two-wheeler and the car that was ahead of her gave the wrong signal. The driver signaled that it would be turning right, but instead, it turned left and knocked her down. Even after hitting Yami’s two-wheeler, the car driver did not stop and sped away instead. The actress said that the accident was very quick and too sudden for her to register what had happened. She mentioned being thankful that she was wearing her helmet. However, at the time, she was unable to move and could have been run over by another passing vehicle. But, a man pulled over and helped her get back on her feet.

Since the accident took place in winters, Yami did not suffer any external injuries and scars, thanks to all the layers of clothes. However, the actress did suffer an internal injury with a fracture in the neck. Bombay Times reports that Yami was told by her doctor that she would not be able to workout in her life. Working in an industry where a person has to be active and perform various roles when required, Yami says that her injury has resurfaced quite a few times when she suffered pain in the neck. However, the actress has been practicing Yoga that has provided relief to her dormant internal injury.
