Veteran Bollywood actress Mumtaz, known for her roles with legends like Dara Singh and Rajesh Khanna, left the industry after marrying Ugandan businessman Mayur Madhvani. She has bravely battled cancer and now advocates for survivors. Mumtaz, now 76, had candidly discussed her life, including heartbreak, marriage, and an extramarital affair in an old interview.
In a previous interview with Pinkvilla, the actress had candidly discussed a brief extramarital relationship she had. She explained, “After the episode, I began feeling lonely. Main thodi rubabwali (headstrong) thi. I felt hurt. So, I flew down to India. When you’re amidst thorns and someone comes along with a rose, you do get carried away. But it was nothing serious. Just a temporary phase, which ended soon. I’m lucky that my husband still loves me so much. Even if I fall a bit sick, hangama khada ho jaata hai.”
Addressing rumors about her husband Mayur’s extramarital affairs, she revealed, “It’s quite common for men to have affairs discreetly. My husband had only one.” She shared that her husband confessed about the affair, saying, “I respect him for being honest with me. He admitted he had a liking for a girl in the US but assured me, ‘Mumtaz, you’re my wife. I love you and will always love you. I will never leave you.’ The issue arose because I was a bit stubborn and difficult, but today it’s a forgotten story. Even God forgives once in a lifetime. I live like a queen; my husband has never kept me wanting for anything,” she added.
Mumtaz, a celebrated figure in Bollywood, found love beyond the silver screen with Ugandan businessman Mayur Madhvani. Their union marked a significant turning point in her life, both personally and professionally.
After achieving remarkable success in the film industry, Mumtaz took a step back from her flourishing career to marry Mayur Madhvani. The couple tied the knot in 1974, and Mumtaz shifted her focus from acting to building a life with her husband. Their marriage marked the beginning of a new chapter, filled with both joyous moments and challenges.
