Anticipation for Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Ammy Virk starrer Bad Newz is clearly touching new heights with every passing day. The makers are also leaving no stone unturned to maintain the hype by dropping interesting posters and sizzling songs from the film. In what is said to be a spiritual sequel to the 2019 hit film Good Newwz, producer Karan Johar is ready to bring yet another humourous take on parenthood. Ahead of the Bad Newz’s release, Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk have spilled the beans about the film’s title.
In a conversation with Pinkvilla, the Sam Bahadur actor revealed that Bad Newz was previously titled Raula, Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam, and even Good Newwz 2. Choosing his favourite one from all the names, Vicky said, “For me, I think Bad Newz, and I’m not being politically correct.”
The actor clarified his stance and explained that everyone, as a team, reached the conclusion that the idea of being a “spiritual sequel” gave the film its arc. “Also because the concept of the film revolves around pregnancy and a humorous story around it, which was a concept in Good Newz as well. So, I think it’s a good continuation, in its spirit,” he added.
Speaking about the movie, Vicky further said that it is a complete entertainer and can be watched with family, friends and lovers.
On the other hand, Ammy Virk, who also plays a significant role in Bad Newz, shared that he got to know about the title while shooting in Punjab. “I was so happy to hear the title Bad Newz, you can’t even think. Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam is also a good title, but there was a reason to scrap it, and we will speak about it later. But for now, Bad Newz worked perfectly,” he said.
What Is Bad Newz All About?
Focusing on a love triangle, the romantic-comedy will show a woman pregnant with the child of two men in a rare case of heteropaternal superfecundation. As shown in the trailer, Triptii’s character is unsure about the child’s father and goes through a paternity test, only to find both Vicky and Ammy as the fathers of the child.
As the chaos unfolds, the two men get into a hilarious conflict over who gets to live with Triptii and support her. Directed by Anand Tiwari, Bad Newz also features Neha Dhupia. The film will hit theatres on July 18.
