Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui fame Vaani Kapoor is soon going to star in a coming-of-age drama titled Badtameez Gill. The actress would play the titular role in the film, which is being directed by Navjot Gulati. Vaani made her Bollywood debut with the film Shuddh Desi Romance, opposite the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, and since then has been cast in a number of critically acclaimed projects. The upcoming project aims to entertain the audience with light humour and a gripping storyline.
As per a report by Variety, along with Vaani Kapoor, the film also stars Aparshakti Khurrana and Paresh Rawal. Aparshakti plays the brother of the Vaani character in the film, while Paresh Rawal will be playing her father. The film is set across Bareilly, northern India, and London, and the shoot is expected to start this week. The film is being produced by Nicky Vicky Bhagnani Films, Saga films Ltd and Vinay Aggarwal.
Speaking about the casting of Vaani in the film, the producers Nickky and Viicky Bhagnani told Variety: “Vaani was the first and only choice, and she is perfect for the part in every way. Vaani will showcase a totally different side to her acting in our film that has its heart in the right place.” They added that the team needed a beautiful, confident girl who “can be a riot” for her family and friends, and Vaani had those characteristics in real life.
Meanwhile, Vaani Kapoor most recently appeared in Ranbir Kapoor’s film Shamshera, which was released in 2022. The actress will shortly appear alongside Ajay Devgn in Raid 2. Rajkumar Gupta is directing the film, which is scheduled to be released on November 15, 2024. She also had the comedy film Khel Khel Mein lined up for release this year. The film also stars Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal, Pragya Jaiswal, and Fardeen Khan in pivotal roles.
Aparshakti Khurana will soon be seen in Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2. The film produced by Dinesh Vijan and stars Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee, is now being filmed. Paresh Rawal, on the other hand, will appear in three back-to-back comic franchises. The actor will appear in Hera Pheri 3 alongside Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty. He also has Awara Pagal Deewana 2 and Welcome to the Jungle in the pipeline.
