Taha Shah PLEADED With Sanjay Leela Bhansali For Heeramandi Role After Being Rejected? What We Know

Taha Shah Badussha, who made his debut with the film Love Ka The End in 2011 alongside Shraddha Kapoor, shot to fame earlier this year with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Taha played the character of Tajdar Baloch in the Netflix series and received a lot of praise and love from both critics and fans for his performance.

Interestingly, it has now come to light that Taha was initially rejected by Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the role. In an interview with Filmfare, Taha revealed that he wasn’t cast for Heeramandi initially. Bhansali had rejected him and advised him to seek other opportunities. Taha initially auditioned for a different role but was rejected because Bhansali wanted him for something else. Later, Taha received a call saying Bhansali might not give him any role. Heartbroken, he went to the ace director’s office and pleaded for another chance. SLB then told him to try for the role of Tajdar instead. It was a wonderful surprise, and Taha promised to give it his all.

Calling SLB a perfectionist, Taha said, “I would not say he is a harsh taskmaster. To be very honest, even I am a harsh taskmaster. You need to be one if you want to become something in life. It’s not a negative thing. It’s the most positive thing because someone who loves what they do can be passionate about it. It’s not anger, it is passion. Unke daant mein bhi pyaar hain (You can feel his love even when he scolds).”

Taha was also seen at Cannes 2024 this year. Interestingly, his Cannes appearance came a few weeks post the release of Heeramandi, which has been winning him immense appreciation. The love he received at the French Riviera left him overwhelmed as well. And he was happy to have achieved what he went to Cannes for. “I’ve opened myself up not just to India but to so many other countries like the UK. I’ve got the Ambassadors of France and Thailand on my phone. They’ve called and invited me personally,” he told News18 in an exclusive chat.
