Director Amar Kaushik’s Stree 2 is still a hit at the box office even after a month. The film features a cameo by Tamannaah Bhatia. In an interview with IndiaToday.In, the filmmaker revealed he was nervous about asking her to join, especially because she needed to wear a bald look for the role.
Amar Kaushik told the portal that Stree 2 needed a meaningful dance number, just like in the first film. They decided to cast Tamannaah because she fit the role well, being both a good dancer and actress. “Just like the first film, the script demanded us to have a dance number like Nora’s. But this time around, we wanted to ensure that the dance is not just dance but it has to have some meaning. The story developed in a way where we thought of introducing Shama and then the idea was to get someone on board who can dance well and is also a good actress. We had two or three suggestions and Tamannaah had done a show with Maddock, and we thought she was the right cast,” he said.
The filmmaker said he was nervous about asking Tamannaah because her role required her to be bald. However, she was very open to the idea and didn’t hesitate. “I was a little hesitant to ask her because the character must be shown bald in the climax sequence. I approached her, and she was very cool about it. She did not even question the scene and was okay with shedding the vanity. When the actors come up with this energy, it works, and everyone is talking about the role,” he said.
Meanwhile, just a day after Amar Kaushik’s Stree 2 beat the Hindi version of Baahubali 2, the film with Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao has now broken the record of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan to become the second highest-grossing Hindi film in India, according to Sacnilk. Pathaan, which came out last year, starred Shah Rukh Khan.
