Sophie Turner Opens Up About Her Separation From Joe Jonas: 'Worst Days Of My Life'
Sophie Turner spoke to Vogue about how she dealt with the end of her four-year marriage to Joe Jonas and the media trial that took a toll on her.

The separation of Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas was perhaps the most talked about celebrity divorce last year. The news of their separation came as a shock to many, including Turner, who has maintained that she heard about Jonas filing divorce papers via media. After the news of their separation broke out in September, the couple released a joint statement insisting that they were ending their marriage amicably. However, soon the divorce turned messy, primarily over the custody of their two daughters, Willa and Delphine. At one point, Turner was suing Jonas for refusing to give their children’s passports so she could take them to England. Earlier this year, this lawsuit was dismissed, after the couple reached a custody agreement.

Turner recently spoke to Vogue about how she dealt with the end of her four-year marriage and the media trial that took a toll on her. The 28-year-old actor described the first few weeks after Jonas filed for divorce as “the worst few days of my life.” She claimed at that time she was in England for the shooting of the TV series Joan, but many media reports falsely claimed that she was seen partying after abandoning her daughters in the USA. Turner recalled, “It felt like I was watching a movie of my life that I hadn’t written, hadn’t produced, or starred in. It was shocking.”

However, the crew and cast of the show supported her, and she could go on with the shooting. She also added that playing the character of Joan, a single teen mom who was escaping an abusive marriage, helped her process the negative emotions.

The Emmy-nominated actor looked back at her marriage, which followed after one year of dating. Turner and Jonas got married in a surprise wedding in Las Vegas, just after the Billboard Music award. At the time Turner was 23 and Jonas was 29, six years her senior. She described her wedding as a “fever dream”. She reflected, “Because he was older than me, I just felt like I was really taken care of, to the point I came back home and didn’t know how to do anything for myself.” Being married into the Jonas household also meant she was always seen as Joe Jonas’s wife and not as an established actor.

However, despite this history, Turner and Jonas are working together to be good co-parents. Talking about the messy divorce saga, she diplomatically said, “I’m unhappy with the way everything played out, especially when it comes to my children, but I’m confident that we can figure it out. Joe is a great father to our children and that’s all that I can ask for.”
