Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree is one of the most popular horror-comedy films. The makers have already announced its sequel for which fans have been waiting eagerly. Well, adding more to it, Rajkummar Rao has shared the teaser release date of the much-anticipated sequel, “Stree 2”. It is set to be released directly in theatres this Friday.
Taking to his Instagram handle, Rajkummar shared a video in which Munjya is seen with Stree music in the background. The teaser will be shown after the Munjya film ends in theatres. “O Friday, jaldi aana kyuki Munjya & Stree are both waiting. Catch #Stree2 teaser with #Munjya only in cinemas this Friday,” the caption read. As soon as the video was shared, fans also reacted. One of the fans wrote, “STREE AARAHI HAI.”

After much delay, Stree 2 finally went on floors last year in July in Chanderi, a town in Madhya Pradesh where the first instalment of the horror-comedy franchise was also set. The shoot of the film starring Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee is currently underway.
Stree was released in 2018. It opened to wide critical acclaim and emerged as a commercial success at the box office. The music of the film also drew a lot of attention with Milegi Milegi and Aao Kabhi Haveli Pe becoming raging chartbusters. The audience also fondly remembers Kamariya featuring a scintillating Nora Fatehi, who grabbed a lot of eyeballs for her moves on the track.
And now, a source exclusively reveals to News18 Showsha that there will be an interesting addition to the cast of Stree 2. While it won’t be a full-fledged role, an actress will be seen grooving to the beats of a peppy dance number in this film as well. “Tamannaah Bhatia will be featuring in a song in Stree 2. It’s an upbeat dance number that will be as catchy as Kamariya. The shoot for the same has already been done,” reveals the source.
On a related note, ever since its release, Stree has become a part of pop culture with its dialogues ‘O Stree kal aana’ and ‘Bikki pleaj’ sparking a meme fest. Speaking about Stree 2 a while back, Rajkummar had said, “Stree is so special for all of us. Amar and I discussed that we would not make it under pressure. We will make it with the same kind of sincerity and love that we had while making part one.”
Stree 2 is being directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films. It is a part of the producer’s horror-comedy universe which includes films like Stree, Roohi, and Bhediya. Stree 2 is set for a theatrical release on August 30, 2024.
