Shraddha Kapoor Nearly Did THIS Film With Sushant Singh Rajput Before Chhichhore: 'She Auditioned for...'
Shraddha Kapoor auditioned for Kai Po Che but didn’t get the role, shared casting director Mukesh Chhabra. Her only film with Sushant Singh Rajput remains Chhichhore.

Shraddha Kapoor and Sushant Singh Rajput shared the screen in the 2019 hit film Chhichhore, a movie that resonated with both audiences and critics. However, the two actors nearly collaborated much earlier, in 2013, for the film Kai Po Che! Casting director Mukesh Chhabra recently revealed this lesser-known fact during an interview with Remo D’Souza on Mashable India.

Mukesh Chhabra shared that Shraddha auditioned for Kai Po Che! but wasn’t selected for the role. He added, “She’s very hard-working. Her first audition for me was for Teen Patti. Then she did a couple of films that didn’t work, and there was a downfall. She then auditioned for Kai Po Che! but that didn’t happen. She wasn’t selected… Then there was a break. Then Aashiqui 2 happened.”

Chhabra emphasised Shraddha’s determination and persistence, noting that she never tires of auditioning and has maintained the same energy since she started her career. Despite missing out on Kai Po Che!, Shraddha’s career took off with Aashiqui 2, leading to her success in films like Stree and eventually Chhichhore.

Remo D’Souza, who worked with Shraddha on ABCD 2, praised her work ethic. He revealed that she shot the popular song “Sun Saathiya” in just seven hours, a testament to her dedication.

Though Chhichhore became Shraddha and Sushant’s only collaboration, the film has left an indelible mark. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the coming-of-age drama was based on his experiences as a student at IIT Bombay. Along with Shraddha and Sushant, the film featured Varun Sharma, Tahir Raj Bhasin, and Naveen Polishetty. It recently completed its seven-year milestone, and Shraddha shared a celebratory video to mark the occasion.

On the work front, Shraddha Kapoor is riding high with the success of Stree 2. The film, led by Rajkummar Rao, broke box-office records despite stiff competition from John Abraham’s Vedaa and Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein. Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 is part of the Maddock Films supernatural universe and has paved the way for a third installment, which is set to begin production soon.
