Rohit Saraf is currently garnering praise for his role in Ishq Vishk Rebound. The film marks his first time playing a full-fledged romantic hero. During his career, Rohit has worked with several big names like Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt. Now, as per reports, the actor is all set to star in Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life with Kamal Haasan.
Pinkvilla quoted a source as saying, “Rohit is a big fan of both Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for him. He has already started shooting for the film and will be seen playing a key catalyst in the story.”
“There are many surprises in Thug Life and the makers are committed to providing a big cinematic experience. The shoot is currently underway, and Mani Ratnam is expected to call it a film wrap by August 2024. The makers are looking at a December 2024 release at this point in time,” the source added. Besides Kamal Haasan and Rohit Saraf, the film also stars Simbu, Trisha Krishnan, Nassar and Joju George in key roles.
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan is currently seen in Kalki 2898 AD. The Nag Ashwin directorial features Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani in key roles. Kamal Haasan plays the villain, Yaskin, in the film.
At the film’s pre-release event in Mumbai, Kamal spoke about playing Yaskin. He said he spent a sizable amount of time with director Nag Ashwin to come up with the look for the film. Kamal will be seen opposite Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone in the film.
“I was mourning to Amit ji backstage that I always wanted to play the bad man. The bad man gets to do all the good things in films. Where the heroes are singing romantic songs and waiting for the heroine, I thought I was going to play the bad man so it is going to be fun. (Nag) wanted it to be different so I am almost like a sage with a bad idea,” Kamal said.
Kalki 2898 AD revolves around a modern avatar of Lord Vishnu, who has descended on Earth to protect the world from the forces of evil. The first show of Kalki 2898 AD played in a US theatre, and received a thunderous response from the audience, with fans going gaga over Prabhas’ entry scene. Even for the early morning screenings in India, Prabhas’ fans showed up with immense fervour to celebrate the film’s release.
Kalki 2898 AD has already sold over 19 lakh tickets across all languages in India. The film is likely to shatter multiple records at the box office as film trade experts are predicting a Rs 100 crore-plus net opening for the movie at the domestic box office. It may cross the Rs 200 crore mark globally. As per a report in Sacnilk.com, Kalki 2898 AD has sold over 15 lakh tickets in the Telugu language alone. The film has already earned over Rs 50 crore via the massive advance bookings.
