The Malayalam romantic superhit Premalu is gearing up for a sequel. The exciting news was shared by the makers of the film at the movie’s success event. Released earlier this year, Premalu became one of the biggest Malayalam releases ever, garnering more than Rs 100 crore at the box office.
As per the latest update, the blockbuster rom-com Premalu is set to have a sequel, titled Premalu 2. The director of the film Girish AD announced the news during Premalu’s success party, which was held in Kochi on Saturday, the reports state. According to him, the audience will get to see “more fun and energy than Premalu". The film is set for release in 2025.
One of the producers of the film, prominent actor Fahadh Faasil shared the announcement on his official Facebook handle. He wrote, “The Biggest RomCom blockbuster ever in Malayalam Cinema will be back in 2025! Let’s Premalu 2." The actor attached an animated, announcement poster with the news.
The film’s Telugu distributor, SS Karthikeya took to his official X account to announce Premalu 2’s Telugu release. He tweeted, “#Premalu was such a beautiful chapter in my life. I’m truly grateful to my Telugu audience for making it unforgettable. Big thanks to @BhavanaStudios for all the support and love. Excited and humbled to present #Premalu2 in Telugu, with even more love."

Directed by Girish AD, Premalu was released on February 9, 2024. He co-wrote the film with Kiran Josey. The cast of the film includes Naslen K Gafoor, and Mamitha Baiju as the lead. They are supported by Sangeeth Prathap, Shyam Mohan and Akhila Bhargavan. It was produced by Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran under the banners of Bhavana Studios, Fahadh Faasil and Friends and Working Class Hero. The music in the film was composed by Vishnu Vijay, Ajmal Sabu did the cinematography and Akash Joseph Varghese was the editor. Made on a budget of Rs 3 crore, the film has collected more than Rs 136 crore at the box office.
