Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba: Taapsee Pannu Opens Up On Her Character Rani, Says 'Zyada Pagalpan Hain'

In December 2023, Taapsee Pannu, Sunny Kaushal and Vikrant Massey wrapped up shooting for the sequel of Haseen Dillruba. The film titled Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba has been written by Kanika Dhillon. The cast had also attended a wrap up party that was hosted by producer Anand L Rai.

Netflix has also dropped the teaser of the film. The sequel takes off from where it had left. It introduces Sunny Kaushal as Abhimanyu and Jimmy Shergill as Mrityunjay. Taapsee and Vikrant reprise their roles as Rani and Rishu. Haseen Dilruba, released in 2021, revolved around a woman suspected of killing her husband. She goes on to narrates an interesting story about her marriage while investigating police officers look for clues to arrest her. Under investigation as a suspect in the gruesome murder, she reveals details of their thorny marriage that seem to only further blur the truth.

At the announcement event, Taapsee said, “Hai toh sequel. Toh, continuation hota hai ek taarike se. Main yahi kahungi ke Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba ki Rani mein thora zyada pyaar hai, thori zyada himmat hai aur thora zyada pagalpan hai. Kyunki jo pagalpan ke hadh se na guzre woh pyar hee kya? Hosh mein toh rishte nibhaye jaatey hai (If there’s a sequel, it’s like a continuation. I’ll say this: in “Phir Aayi Haseen Dillruba ki Rani,” there’s a bit more love, a bit more courage, and a bit more craziness. Because what’s love without a little madness? Relationships are built in consciousness).”

Director Vinil Mathew’s Haseen Dillruba was written by Kanika Dhillon. In the first part, Harshvardhan Rane also played a key part in the film. While the film received mixed reviews, Haseen Dilruba was one of the most-watched Hindi movies on Netflix in 2021.
