Actor Aasif Khan made a heartfelt return to the popular series Panchayat for its third season, much to the joy of his fans. Interestingly, he shared a fascinating anecdote about the time he was working as a waiter and had a missed opportunity to attend Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s lavish wedding. Despite being in the same vicinity as the glamorous event, he was unfortunately denied the chance to meet the star couple.

Reflecting on his journey in a recent interview with ABP Uncut, Aasif discussed his rise to fame in the world of OTT platforms and reminisced about his humble beginnings washing dishes in the same hotel where the grand wedding took place. When reflecting on that particular moment, the actor expressed a poignant sentiment about seeking permission from his manager to meet the Bollywood stars, only to have his request denied. He emotionally recounted how he felt that day, sharing that tears welled up in his eyes as he missed out on the opportunity to interact with the actors, despite being within arm’s reach of them. He shared, “I cried that day as I could not meet the actors despite being so close to them.”

That challenging experience served as a turning point in his journey, propelling him to strive even harder to break into the Bollywood scene. Approximately a month later, Aasif seized an opportunity to meet with a casting agency but faced criticism about his appearance.

Recalling the disheartening encounter, he shared how the manager bluntly remarked on his looks and physique, leaving him feeling dejected. Despite this discouraging feedback, the casting professional advised him to hone his acting skills and master the basics before pursuing opportunities in the industry.

Determined to succeed, Aasif made a pivotal decision to return to his roots in Rajasthan, where he immersed himself in a theatre group in Jaipur. Over the span of six years, he dedicated himself to refining his craft and nurturing his passion for acting before making a bold return to Mumbai to once again pursue his dreams in the competitive world of showbiz.

Aasif’s fascinating journey in the entertainment industry initially kicked off from a modest role as a casting assistant, showcasing his early foray into the world of showbiz. Transitioning to acting, he embarked on his path as a junior artist, making appearances in notable Bollywood films such as Salman Khan’s Ready, Hrithik Roshan’s Agneepath, Akshay Kumar’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha, and the gripping thriller India’s Most Wanted alongside Arjun Kapoor.

In the realm of OTT platforms, Aasif marked his debut in 2018 with the highly acclaimed series Mirzapur, where he captivated audiences with his portrayal of Babar, a steadfast aide. Furthermore, his talents shone in other popular series like Paatal Lok, Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega, Mirzapur 2, and of course, the beloved Panchayat, showcasing his versatility and dedication to his craft across various platforms within the entertainment landscape.
