As the controversies surrounding Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati refuse to die down, veteran actor Kamal Haasan on Monday came to Deepika Padukone's rescue saying he wants her head saved and her freedom should not be denied.
He took to Twitter and wrote, "I want Ms.Deepika's head.. saved. Respect it more than her body.Even more her freedom. Do not deny her that."
I wantMs.Deepika's head.. saved. Respect it more than her body.Even more her freedom. Do not deny her that. Many communities have apposed my films.Extremism in any debate is deplorable. Wake up cerebral India.Time to think. We've said enough. Listen Ma Bharat— Kamal Haasan (@ikamalhaasan) November 20, 2017
He further said that many communities had earlier opposed his films too. "Many communities have apposed my films. Extremism in any debate is deplorable. Wake up cerebral India. Time to think. We've said enough. Listen Ma Bharat," he added.
Haasan's tweet comes after the Harayana BJP chief media coordinator Suraj Pal Amu on Sunday said that he would reward Rs 10 crore to anyone who beheads Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actor Deepika Padukone. And Amu's remarks came two days after a Meerut resident from the Kshatriya community declared a Rs 5 crore bounty on the heads of director and the female actor in Padmavati.
The film, starring Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh alongside the actor, is going through rough waters and the makers have voluntarily deferred the release amid the raging protests.
