Veteran actor Pankaj Kapur is busy promoting his movie Binny and Family, which also stars Varun Dhawan’s niece, Anjini Dhawan. The film delves into family issues, lack of communication, and generational gaps. In an interview, Pankaj Kapur spoke about bridging the communication gap between his three children, Shahid Kapoor, Sanah Kapoor, and Ruhaan Kapoor.
Bollywood Hungama asked Pankaj whether generation gap was an issue, to which the actor said, “I don’t think like that because thoda bahut odd age mein bachcha toh aata hi hai, toh aapko yaad karna chahiye ki aap bhi isi tarah ki umar se guzare hain aur aapka daur kis tarah ka tha…So you are open about it (A child goes through a phase of being at a different age, you should recall that you, too, went through the same age, and what was your phase like?)”
Pankaj says he is honest with his kids and approaches them with a “more like a friend” gesture. The actor attributed this openness to his father, who also shared a friendly relationship with him. Pankaj stated that he has let them live their life as they wanted, even if he did not fully comprehend it.
Meanwhile, the trailer for Binny and Family displays a typical family dynamic, complete with emotional scenes, light-hearted humour, and generational strife. This coming-of-age drama also stars debutante, Naman Tripathy. The trailer hints that the film will dive deeply into the issues of age disparities among family members. The teaser conveys a serious lesson about how a lack of communication can aggravate these gaps, resulting in misunderstandings. This is Anjini Dhawan’s debut film, featuring Rajesh Kumar and Himani Shivpuri. The film, directed by Ssanjay Tripaathy, will be released on September 20.
Pankaj was also seen in IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack along with Vijay Varma, Dia Mirza and others. The six-episode Netflix series is based on Captain Devi Sharan and Srinjoy Chowdhury’s book Flight into Fear: A Captain’s Story.
