Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Mithun Chakraborty after it was announced that he will be honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke this year. Taking to X, PM Modi reposted the announcement by Union minister for railways, information and broadcasting, electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with his best wishes for Mithun.
“Delighted that Shri Mithun Chakraborty Ji has been conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, recognizing his unparalleled contributions to Indian cinema. Meanwhile, Mithun Chakraborty shared his reaction to the honour. He spoke with ANI and said, “I don’t have words. Neither I can laugh nor cry. This is such a big thing… I could not have imagined this. I am extremely happy. I dedicate this to my family and my fans across the world.”

The news of Mithun Chakraborty winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award comes just months after he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan. The ceremony took place in April and the actor was seen accepting the honour from President Droupadi Murmu.
Mithun Chakraborty made his acting debut in 1977 and starred in several films such as Disco Dancer, Agneepath, Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye, Hum Se Hai Zamana, Pasand Apni Apni, Ghar Ek Mandir and Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki, among many others. In recent years, he appeared in films such OMG: Oh My God.
