Director Trivikram Srinivas’ film Guntur Kaaram, featuring Mahesh Babu and Sreeleela, released in theaters on January 12 for Sankranthi. Less than a month later, it’s hitting Netflix India. Despite competing with HanuMan, Saindhav, and Naa Saami Ranga at the box office, Guntur Kaaram did decent business.
Sharing a new trailer for the film starring Mahesh Babu, Netflix India South wrote on their X handle on Thursday, “My brain for the next 12 hours: Sarra Sarra Soolam. Guntur Kaaram, coming to Netflix in 12 hours in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. #GunturKaaramOnNetflix.”
Making the initial announcement a few days ago, Netflix India wrote on X and Instagram, “It is about to get very hot in here because Rowdy Ramana is here and he is on fire. Guntur Kaaram, coming to Netflix on 9 February in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. #GunturKaaramOnNetflix.”
Guntur Kaaram is the third movie for which Trivikram and Mahesh have together, following Athadu and Khaleja. Though it received mixed reviews initially, its box office performance gradually improved and remained steady during Sankranthi. Naga Vamsi mentioned at a press meet that the film was doing better business in Andhra Pradesh compared to Telangana and overseas.
In the film, Mahesh plays Ramana, a tough guy from Guntur who has distanced himself from his mother, played by Ramya Krishnan. When his politician grandfather, portrayed by Prakash Raj, tells him to cut all ties with her, Ramana rebels to uncover why she left him twenty years ago.
Guntur Kaaram stars Mahesh Babu and Sreeleela in the lead. The film also stars Jagapathi Babu, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishnan, and others. Haarika & Hassine Creations and Sithara Entertainments have produced this film.
