The makers of Angry Young Men dropped the trailer of the docuseries on Tuesday. Based on the legendary screenwriters of 1970s Hindi cinema – Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar- the docuseries will show how the duo changed the course of writing in the Indian film industry. The upcoming offering has fans and celebrities buzzing with excitement, including Karan Johar. The filmmaker shared the trailer on his Instagram Stories along with a short yet heartwarming note. Karan Johar, expressing his excitement, wrote, “This is going to be incredible…The game changing…era defining and syntax creating LEGENDS!!!!! Salim Saab and Javed Saab." Angry Young Men will premiere on August 20 on Prime Video.
It needs to be noted that Karan Johar is among the celebrities who will be appearing in the highly anticipated show to share his experience and memories of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. In the trailer, the filmmaker can be heard saying, “Can you imagine if a writer today said: “I want a crore more than Salman Khan. That was the power of Salim-Javed."
Besides Karan Johar, the trailer also included a glimpse of Shabana Azmi, Zoya Akhtar, Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Shatrughan Sinha, Jaya Bachchan, Honey Irani and Arbaaz Khan. Phew! They share some interesting bits about Salim-Javed’s iconic journey and even the infamous rift. FYI, Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar did about 24 films together most of which were blockbusters like Sholay, Zanjeer, Deewaar, Yaadon Ki Baaraat and Don.
Coming back to Angry Young Men, the series has been jointly bankrolled by Salman Khan Films, Excel Media and Entertainment and Tiger Baby. Additionally, Salman Khan along with Salma Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti came on board as the executive producer for the film. The docuseries has been directed by Namrata Rao.
Salman Khan, while speaking about Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, said, “Growing up, seeing my father and Javed Sahab work together on films was nothing short of magical. Their love for cinema redefined heroism for an entire generation, leaving behind a legacy of cult classics. Personally, I would love to see them working together in the future, I hope the fans and viewers can also agree."
