Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut is now navigating the demanding world of politics as a member of parliament, representing the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh. Balancing her political responsibilities with her thriving film career has proven to be an immense challenge.
In a candid interview with Variety, Kangana opened up about the difficulties she faces in her dual roles. “Being a parliamentarian is a very demanding job,” she shared. “Especially in my constituency, we’ve had floods, so I am all over the place. I have to go to Himachal and see to it that things are being taken care of.”
The devastation caused by the floods has added to her already packed schedule, forcing Kangana to juggle her duties as a parliamentarian with her commitments in the film industry. The impact of her political career on her film work is evident, as she admitted that her projects are suffering. “My film work is suffering. My projects are waiting. I’m not able to start my shoots,” she said. With the parliamentary sessions dictating her availability, Kangana finds herself waiting for more details, such as the winter session, to adjust her dates accordingly.
Despite the overwhelming nature of her current situation, Kangana remains steadfast in her commitment to both roles. She expressed her openness to following the path that ultimately resonates with her the most. “I’m very open, and whatever needs me more and engages me more as a person, eventually I’ll take that route,” she said. “But right now, it’s just way too much happening in my life.”
On the film front, fans have been eagerly awaiting the third installment of the beloved “Tanu Weds Manu” film series, in which Kangana has played a pivotal role. While Kangana confirmed her involvement in the project last year, director Aanand L Rai recently provided an update. He clarified that the story for “Tanu Weds Manu 3” isn’t locked yet. “With ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns,’ we introduced a new character, Datto. These characters are all asking for a third part. The minute we have a great story—the story that Tanu, Manu, and Datto deserve—we’ll go for it,” Rai revealed.
Rai emphasised that he is searching for a unique man-woman relationship dynamic for the next installment. As a director, he strives to explore new and edgy love stories, ensuring each project brings something fresh to the audience.
