Jagapathi Babu caught everyone’s attention after he admitted he didn’t enjiy working in Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram. For the unversed, the Telugu star played a villain named Dokka Marx Babu who crosses paths with Mahesh’s father, played by Jayaram in the film. In a new interview, Jagapathi said when he signed on the film, he felt the character had a lot of scope. However, it eventually became too messy. Guntur Kaaram released earlier this year and did good business.
Speaking with Times Now, Jagapathi Babu said, “I would love to work with Mahesh Babu always. But, to be honest, I didn’t enjoy Guntur Kaaram.” He added, “Because, it was supposed to be very different, more characterisation was there. It became sort of messy after a while, it became difficult to finish it (the film). I did whatever I had to do. I don’t want to waste our (Mahesh and his) combinations on such films, it should be the best.”
The film released in January this year amid high expectations. At the time, even Shah Rukh Khan sent his best wishes to Mahesh and the team. “Looking forward to #GunturKaaram my friend @urstrulyMahesh !!! A promising ride of action, emotion and of course. Massss!!! Highly inflammable! (sic),” SRK tweeted. He also shared the trailer of the film along with the tweet.
Guntur Kaaram marked Mahesh Babu’s return to the big screen after a two-year hiatus. His last appearance before hte film was in the 2022 film Sarkaru Vaari Paata. The movie, featuring Babu along with Meenakshi Chaudhary, Sreeleela, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Ramya Krishnan, Vennela Kishore, and Easwari Rao in pivotal roles, revolves around Mahesh’s character, Rowdy Ramana, who falls in love with a journalist aiming to expose the city’s criminal activities.
Guntur Kaaram released on Netflix a few weeks after the film had its theatrical release.
