In Pics: How Amitabh Bachchan Got Ready For His Kalki 2898 AD Character

Nag Ashwin’s recently released sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD has created a huge storm at the box office. It has gripped the nation with its exceptional storytelling, visual effects and intense background music with top-notch performances by the actors. While every actor and their get-up won the hearts of the audience, it was Ashwatthama, played by Amitabh Bachchan, who left quite a mark on the viewers’ minds with his aura. Now, to further increase the hype, his makeup artists have dropped some BTS photos of Big B that have the internet’s attention.

Kalki 2898 AD is the reimagination and futuristic setting of Mahabharata, where Ashwatthama’s character is enigmatic and demands full attention. However, to create that vibe on the silver screen, a lot of hard work went into the physical transformation of the actor to deliver his best. Amitabh Bachchan, who has previously sat through painstaking hours to get the makeup and other aesthetics right for his character Auro in Paa, did it again. He seamlessly stepped into the character of Ashwatthama with his prosthetic makeup worth appreciating.

Prosthetic makeup artist of the Pink actor, Karandeep Singh shared BTS looks of Amitabh Bachchan transforming to look like Nag Ashwin’s version of Ashwatthama, an immortal and brave warrior. The exclusive photos depicted the actor in a weathered look which almost makes him look unrecognisable. As per reports, the costume of Ashwatthama was made of fine mul cotton fabric that was purposely made to look distressed and old. The addition of the matted wig and beard gives him a shabby look, while the kohl highlights his eyes.

The makeup artists praised the crew of the film for delivering an amazing opening sequence that left the viewers in absolute shock. The caption read, “Congratulations to the whole team of Kalki for mind mind-blasting opening. We hope you all liked the look of sir Amitabh Bachchan designed by Preeti Sheel and the set makeup executed by me. Here are some detailed shots of his look and behind the scenes.”

Kalki 2898 AD stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. It also stars Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan and Keerthy Suresh in key roles.
