'Gadar 2's Massive Box Office Success Left Sunny Deol In Tears': Director Anil Sharma
Anil Sharma talked about the third instalment of Gadar 2 and would make it only if the third part was a bigger emotional bomb than the first two.

Bollywood actor Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 took the box office by storm in 2023. The film did a business of more than Rs 600 crore at the box office. Now, recently, the director of the film, Anil Sharma, shared he was confident about the film’s performance and knew Gadar 2 would mint above Rs 500 crore, even before its release. He also confessed that Sunny Deol’s “eyes were filled with tears.”

In an interview with ANI, he recalled the phone conversation he had with the Gadar star. He said, “My first conversation was on 11th August. I woke up early in the morning and saw my wife and son Utkarsh were watching on X and Instagram. And they showed me that see this. ‘See people are giving reviews on YouTube’.” He revealed that he was taken by surprise at the reviews and thought that they must be from Australia. But when he learned that the rave reviews were from India, he called up Sunny Deol, who was also watching the reviews. He said, “We were on speakerphone…his eyes were filled with tears. And he was crying.”

The ace director further added that he, his wife and Sunny Deol were all crying. He shared that Sunny Deol held a success party, and it was a very big thing since “Deols don’t hold such parties.” He proudly mentioned that the success of the film was a big deal for the industry as it revived the theatres after the pandemic.

Anil Sharma talked about the third instalment of Gadar 2. He shared that he will “bring Gadar 3” only when he feels that the third instalment would be a bigger emotional bomb than the first two parts. He said he is “working on it” and felt the film is “an emotion of the whole of India.”

Gadar 2 was released in 2023 and emerged to be one of the highest-grossing films of the year. Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel reprised their roles from the part one. The film also starred Gaurav Chopra, Manish Wadhwa, Manoj Bakshi and Manish Wadhwa. It is produced by Anil Sharma and Kamal Mukut under the banners of Zee Studios, Anil Sharma Productions and MM Movies.
